Mama's neighborhood

On the Kirchberg plateau, Mama has settled into a neighbourhood like no other: a unique mix of institutional skyscrapers, museums designed by renowned architects and green spaces stretching all the way to the city’s former fortifications. This is Luxembourg looking to the future, without forgetting its military past hidden beneath the lawns. Still relatively undiscovered by visitors, it’s a neighbourhood Mama is delighted to introduce you to. mamamoji

Culture & Heritage

Kirchberg is home to some of Luxembourg’s most remarkable cultural landmarks. The Mudam, the modern art museum designed by Ieoh Ming Pei, sits alongside the Philharmonie Luxembourg and its iconic 823 columns by Christian de Portzamparc. Nearby, Fort Thüngen — known as the “Three Acorns” — houses the Musée Dräi Eechelen, dedicated to Luxembourg’s military and urban history. The district is also home to the Court of Justice of the European Union, while architecture enthusiasts can explore LUCA, Luxembourg’s centre for architecture and urbanism.

Food & Drink

  • F&B neighborhood picture

The neighbourhood Mama has chosen offers a discreet yet high-quality food scene, popular with European civil servants and local regulars. From coffee shops for a daytime pick-me-up to cultural institution restaurants with thoughtful menus, like the Mudam’s, which supports professional integration, this is a neighbourhood that does good food without ever trying too hard.

Getting around

The Philharmonie-Mudam tram stop, just a stone’s throw from the hotel, is served by Line T1, one of Europe’s most efficient tram lines. It connects Findel Airport, Kirchberg, the city centre, the central train station and the Cloche d’Or business district. To reach the Old Town below, head to Rout Bréck-Pafendall, where a super-fast funicular takes you to Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg station, right at the gateway to the historic Grund district and the UNESCO-listed Old Town.
And, like all public transport in Luxembourg, the tram is completely free!

In the city centre, from Grand-Rue to Rue Beaumont, big-name brands sit alongside independent boutiques, local designers and concept stores. For a souvenir with a difference, step into a bookshop, delicatessen or design store: here, shopping is as much about discovering new places as it is about finding something to take home.
