“Service in the restaurants was just all over the place, not good. Cleaning in the room was not good, they did not clean the carpet and floor for 7 nights, also they did not put on clean bedding for 7 nights. I asked for extra mattress or bedding in the sofa bed 3 times, because it was so thin to sleep on, they did nothing for me. Then I ask for extra blanket so I could put under me, and they did come with that. On the photo it was to be 2 sinks in the bathroom, but it was only one. We put do not disturb on the door, but they still opened the door. So over all I was not pleased for the price you pay and what you get.”

“Staff were very helpful and very friendly. We loved the decor. It will be good when a pool is put in. Roof top bar needs some more umbrellas for shade and the only thing was the chips are put into the bags to early and they come out stale and not very enjoyable. But everything else was very good. On our first evening we went down to have dinner and was told that it was full and we were not given any other options and then had to try and find another place to eat. When we returned the restaurant was quite empty and could not understand why we were turned away.”

“The hotel is beautiful and scores with the roof terrace. The service is staffed by young, sometimes over-motivated staff who supposedly have no qualified training. Few are really nice and motivated, but most treat the guests like numbers. We were unlucky that the pool was closed, we were given a voucher for a brunch as an apology. This was not enough as we had booked the hotel with our 11 year old daughter precisely because of the pool. It was clear to us that Rome (I lived there) means a lot of walking, so the pool was very important to us as relaxation!!! The brunch was great, but in no way replaced this! The food is varied, but it's questionable that you have to make a reservation in the restaurant with your family but can't order pizza there? That's incredibly stupid! The staff clear away everything at the table that you don't hold on to, regardless of whether people are still eating. Everyone acts relaxed and cool but is very clueless. The waiter holds his nose to the wine cork. In good restaurants the waiter gives the gas! They also take away all the caps, even though guests might still want to take the open wine or water with them. Finally, the lady at reception ripped the handle off your rucksack. Oh sorry, was their answer. You have to learn a lot and be more responsive to the customer! Than to make party with bidding money! Mom means "home & wellbeing" you are at best an evil mother-in-law”

“The location and the spaces of rooms are very good, but the starting of morning is very necessary, so, the boiler and a little of tea and coffee is essential to start our day, so, actually, the missing of these items have destroyed our experience in your hotel.”

“We were satisfied with the hotel. It was much further out than expected which was slightly disappointing. When I mentioned that we weren’t told the gym/spa was shut I was told our room would be upgraded. I am unsure if it was or not however we were put in a disabled access room and I’m not sure why. The bathroom was very bare and the lack of products wasn’t great. I had to go out buy shower gel / shampoo something I would automatically expect to be in a hotel. The room needed a good freshen up, the walls had marks all over them and this was something just a lick of paint could fix. I just felt it was lacking amenities. We stayed for two nights and went to breakfast on the 1st day but after 5 minutes we decided to leave. The food offering was not great, the room very dark when it was a gorgeous sunny day outside and the service we didn’t get to experience. That was a slight waste of money after paying for breakfast. Reception was often chaotic. Overall the stay was fine, but would I stay again. Possibly not.”

“I enjoyed spending several nights at Mama Shelter. Its quirky decor and style really suited me. Breakfast choices were tasty, rooftop bar delightful. The downside is that the staff are somewhat disorganised. If anything goes awry, it is slow to be addressed. They seem willing but the system fails them. I experienced a few small problems that were aggravated by the way they were dealt with. On balance, a lovely visit with a few resolvable issues.”

“The honeysuckle canopy at the front of the hotel which led to a tranquil sitting area was beautiful and smelled divine! We stayed for 4 nights abs weee very impressed with the hotel. The staff were all upbeat and friendly and they all spoke excellent English. The decor was fun and the level of cleanliness very high. The room was compact with a lovely balcony. Service at the bar was amazing with very friendly staff. I would highly recommend the hotel.”

“The service I received from the team was excellent, however the room and some of facilities were less than satisfactory. The room has very little in the way of amenities/storage/furniture. Trying to work from there for even an hour was comfortable. The rainfall shower had no pressure and didn’t work properly and the card reader in one of the lifts was faulty for my entire stay. Location is good, quiet and away from the craziness of the centre, I didn’t eat breakfast or have a drink at the bar so I can’t comment. As a Dis-Loyalty member I was hoping that I would find a great place to stay in Roma. Not 100% sure I would stay again.”

“The hotel has a great atmosphere and highly-motivated staff. Unfortunately for us a few down points made the hotel a place we would not return in the future. Such as: - "Rain" style shower - This should be optional as we lacked water for a proper shower. No pressure at all, far from what we expected. We ended up using the small shower head instead, turning the shower into a not very pleasant experience. - A Soap Bar in place of a shampoo/conditioner. A one-does-it-all soap bar was provided as a shower gel + shampoo + conditioner, alleging environmental reasons. At this price tag we expect refillable shampoo, conditioner and shower gel dispensers. The soap was just not great. - Restaurant and Pizzeria: On the day of our arrival we opted for pizzas and were informed that only one type of pizza was available out of 10+ options. On our third day, for dinner, more restrictions applied, sorry but I can't remember what was not available this time. - During our stay, the pools, one of the reasons for us selecting the hotel, were closed for maintenance and we were never advised in advance or offered any compensation for the fact. - A 25-euros a day fee applies to use the car park, which we were not aware. Sadly these were importants points we consider when selecting a hotel and we could not experience them at Mama Shelter. I hope this review helps new guests on making their decisions. Thank you,”
